I like the use of the shadowed figure, I'm a little confused about what the diagonal strip of light is that goes through the whole photo. I find that pretty distracting right now.
Great start. For me, the building in the background is extremely distracting. Also where the figure goes from transparent shadow on the tree to a life of it's own creeping into the background. LOVE the subtlety. going to be a real challenge to get those darks to print just right, but would be worth pursuing.
The hill in the background works real well as a framing device. Can the shadow just be on the tree? Would be fun to deconstruct versions of this as a metaphysical representation. Seems like pattern lends itself to this sort of direction as well, leaves could be an option, especially this time of year. wonder what a shoot of fall leaves (falling?) would look like as a third element. The layering seems preliminary right now, not quite layered, but not quite real either--witness the tree leaves creeping into the right foreground. might want to try one as a tour de force of technique re-creating the power of the photograph instead of layering, at least for one iteration. Nice start.

ReplyDeleteOkay very cool! I like where you're going with the light and divine power.
ReplyDeleteI like the high contrast between the darks and lights, especially the specs of light extending into the tree trunk and the figure there.
ReplyDeleteHi Claire
